Ministry for the Environment visit highlights collaboration in estuary restoration

Te Wahapū o Waihī was privileged to host manuhiri from the Ministry for the Environment on a guided visit through the Waihī Pongakawa Catchment.

The purpose of the visit was to showcase the progress of the restoration programme, which focuses on revitalising the ecological health and mauri of the estuary.

The day highlighted the strong partnerships underpinning this kaupapa, with senior leaders from Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council, local landowners, and our dedicated operations team all contributing to the day.

“Coming together is a start, keeping together is progress, working together is success” was a sentiment shared during the visit.

This reflects the collective commitment required to restore and protect the estuary for future generations.
