Further progress has been made on the Cutwater Road wetland site, with construction of the freshwater and tidal wetland perimeter bunds advancing.

The freshwater bund is now largely complete, with over half of the tidal bund also finished. This marks a significant step forward in restoring the health of the Waihī Estuary.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council staff joined our kaitiaki on site, working together to complete the de-fishing works to safely relocate native species from the site, before the next stage of earthworks.
More than 50 eels were successfully caught after the first night of netting and safely released into a nearby channel.
This work is part of the wider effort to restore the estuary while protecting the species that call it home.
